When I start up 1999 Lexus GS300, the engine runs at almost 2000 rpm. Why does it run so high? Is it normal?

Usually it is a tire balance problem. If you don't rotate your tires regularly or have an alignment or shock issue your tires will wear abnormally & cause them to get out of balance which will cause your shimmy

Could be lots of problems. Does the bottom of your seat shake? That would be the rear part of the car. Do the pedals/steering wheel shake? Front end. The wheels or tires could be out of balance. To many variables to determine on line. Take to a certified mechanic or two and get a couple of opinions.
