Question:
I have an 02 Silverado 5.3 and at acceleration the oil pressure gauge appears to stick at 40 and then jump up and during decelartion the oil pressure gauge appears to stick and then drop down to 40. Is my oil pump going out or is my sending unit?

My 98' Expedition sputters( most of the time) when I push the gas.But not past Sixty mph?
If your oil pump was going out, you'd have no pressure, and your valves would be tapping at start. Mine went out last year in my 01 at about 203,000 miles. Unless you have high miles, you really shouldn't have to worry about that.Have you changed the gauges? Cause if you did, the needles may be stuck on too tight or on too loose, causing it to stick. That happened with me also.
If that's not the case, bring it to a shop and have them run a scanner on it. That usually costs about $80, and will tell you what's wrong with it.
Good luck!
