4wd 700r4 to a 2wd 700r4?

having problems with truck slipping out of 2hi to 4hi or while driving it pops out . makes alot of noise around transferr case area.

the only difference here is the tail shaft,very easy to change.check your transfer case linkage its probably binding up.

i mechanic for a living,,and own a shop,,it may be out of adjustment there at the transfer case,,this is what usually causes this to happen to one,,you need to check ,and make sure it clicks all the way in when it is locked in,,you may have to disconnect the linkage to do this,,then see if the linkage has room to go in all the way,,it sounds like it just need to be adjusted,,if that's not it,,you may have to tear in to the case the fork may have a lot of wear on it,,good luck hope this help,s.

the only difference between the transmissions is the length of the tail shaft. Your problem is the transfer case linkage and transfer case itself. there are detentes that are to keep the linkage from moving--look to them first.
