I have an 89 camaro with a little bit of rust on the edge of the wheel well and a spot around the door. I am saving up to fix it, but how can I stop it from rusting even more?

you can spray some old paint from a can on it for now,,anything to slow it down some,at this point you probably already need a good door,,for it,,and maybe half quarter panels also, so id just try the best that i could,,rust is hard to stop,once it starts it hard to get rid of,,good luck hope this help,sJeep Cherokee starts then dies...alternator?
How long are you planning to take to fix it? It should not really rust much in even a few months.Or just keep the area clean and dry.

You can spray it with some oil or WD40 which will prevent the rust from spreading for now or you can sand the area that is rusty and spray rustoleum primer on it. Sounds like a nice car. Buy yourself a can of Primer that closest matches your cars color (walmart usually has it or auto zone) and a can of rust stopping spray. Sand down the rust with 180 grit sand paper then go over it with 1500 grit sand paper. sand about five inches into the paint around the rust. wash what you have sanded with soap and water and let it air dry. after your done tape the surrounding area of the spot you have sanded so you dont get over spray on the good paint.
