It depends where the chips are. Are they in the drivers line of vision? If they are small chips that show no signs of cracking, don't worry about. If they do show signs of cracking you can get them filled at any auto glass place.clean those areas well. use acrilic nail polish, and gently dab the areas, and let dry befor driving any ware.

My advice is don't bother to repair it if the windshield's 5 years old or more. If it obstructs your vision while driving, have it replaced under your auto insurance policy. The windshields need replacing anyways after 10 years for sure just due to normal road wear. You don't need a new one until the pits turn into long cracks going up and down the windshield.
