what is the pump timing on ford d series 1971 diesel?

Your particular vehicle does not have a modulator valve. Does it slip in Drive and Overdrive? Are upshifts delayed? If so, check the T.V. cable linkage to the throttle body. It was common for the plastic bushing or grommet to break, where the cable is supposed to secure to the throttle lever, leaving the cable hanging loosely. Those transmissions were famous for burning out the overdrive bands and direct clutches in their day. Hope this helps.

i would like to know what does it cost to have a front end alignment on a car done?

Try checking the transmission detent cable assembly thats built onto the accelerator cable aside where the throttle body is. If its lose or missing some plastic clips on it it will normaly do that, even worst you could burn the tranny out becuase of it being out of adjustment .
