Question:
I have a 2000 ford explorer and when I left walmart last night the battery light was on and I had to use all my strength just to turn the wheel! I have never had this happen before. This morning the battery was dead and my husband tried to jump it and it wouldnt. It is no good. Can power steering not work because of a bad battery or what? Does anyone know what else could be wrong?

on a 1988 ford f150,what would make it stop getting spark?it ran with a new cap then no spark?
Its the serpantine belt. The repairs shouldn't be very expensive. Just go to a repair shop you trust. They'll probably replace the belt and perhaps a pully. The belt is simply rubber and if you go look into your engine you should be able to find a rubber belt attached to serveral different metal wheels that will be either on the front of the side (it will probably be black) if its missing or loose then you know that that's the problem. Chances are it is not the battery and the battery is doing perfectly fine still. Why does my 1991 Chevrolet S10 shake, shimmy, and vibrate?
Sounds like serpentine belt has broken, come off or the belt tensioner has gone bad. The belt drives the alternator and p/s.what is the difference between a mechanical and vacuum advance distributors?
The odds are that the belt that runs your power steering pump is the same one that runs your alternator and it has broken or come offIf you left the lights on for the longest time, the battery was completely drained, and many of your power functions use some electric power, although it runs on a different circuit independent of the main12 volts. CHange the battery. If you bought it in 2000 then it is about 6 yrs old. The average life expentancy of a battery is 5 or 6. Its time to replace it.

Try your belts, and or your alternator.does anyone know were the clutch fluid reservoir is on a volkswagon sharan?
My friend and I were driving her Bronco and power steering and battery both died on us. The case also interfered with the belt. Which in your case is not the problem by the time we got it to the mechanic he told us that you have to put power steering liquid in it and go to autozone and get your battery supercharged and see if it's that.More Questions & Answers ...
