pay not so good

I have a 1988 Buick Century. Runs Great, Dash vibrates when I go about 35 mph. Why?
In my own humble opinion I would have to say no.The auto industry is in much trouble and has been for quite a while. With 2006 being one of the worst years in recent history, and with auto manufacturers and their dealers predicting another "flat" year in 2007.The manufacturers made a grave mistake when they offered employee pricing to the consumer! Then went on to extend warranty coverage by time and mileage. They pretty much shot themselves in the foot for the next 4 maybe even 5 years. It's kinda like nuclear war, everyone knows that everyone else has a bomb, but when one uses it,they all will use it thereby destroying the market.Layoffs lead to plant closings leading to less production leading to less dealers being able to survive.Anyone who could afford to purchase a new vehicle did so when the incentives were there, and that shut down the market for as long as the warranty or extended warranty periods hold out.If you can,go back to school, further your education in a field or vocation that interests you.Besides...it's good to have something to fall back on.I spend almost 20 years as a technician at different GM car and truck dealerships in a few different states and a parts manager at a few more...and they are all the same, there only concern is to push vehicles out the front door, with very little concern about the "back end" or the people in it.
Here's an example. While working at a Chevrolet dealer in the Cleveland,O. area on Sept.11,01 watching the Twin Towers being destroyed on TV,the owner walked up and told everyone "GET BACK TO WORK,I DON'T PAY YOU TO WATCH TV !"........says something doesn't it...........
The best day in many years was when I quit my job to become a firefighter/EMT.I can now sleep at night knowing I'm helping someone instead of trying to sell them something they don't need just to make a living.I wish you all the luck in the world,it's a hard rut to get out of!
Car accelerates to 40, then when pushing the gas after 40 it revs the engine as if im in neutral?
It depends on what part of the country you are in. In Florida, auto mechanics make pennies compared to those in Indiana. I would maybe look at other options in your area but probally would not leave the industry all together. The busy season in the car business is Feb-June so atleast consider staying put throught those months. Tax check season. If you to body work, it is usually busiest through the summer.More Questions & Answers ...
