Question:
Hey Everybody!! I just noticed that when i turn my headlights on.... my brake lights turn on as well!! But when driving in daylight since i dont need my headlights on my brake lights work just fine!! It's only when i drive at night. Turning my headlights on all my brake light's come on as well!! So i know i probably need an auto electrician to check it out, but does anyone know how this can occur??
Answers:
Does anyone know a website that I can see a diagram of where a part is located on my car?
It sounds like you are getting feedback into the brake light circuit from the running lights. An easy way for this to happen is if you have the wrong bulb installed in one of the socket's.
I have also seen the lead contact break off a bulb and get wedged in between the two different contacts inside the socket.
I doubt if it is the one in the window since it does not have a running light circuit.
Remove all the tail and brake light bulbs noting which are which.
With all of them removed try the headlights again to see if the one in the rear window lights up.
If it does not you know you are getting feedback from one of the rear sockets.
Could these lights possibly be the tail lights...
What causes an engine to misfire?
The lights you see are probably the tail lights. You should have someone stand behind your car while you have the lights on and tap the break, ask them if there is any change in the brightness of the lights, or if the one above the back seat comes on.How many miles can 1 gallon of gas take me on a Cadillac DTS 2007?
If there is no change in the light's brightness, then you need to take it to automotive electrician.
If I am reading this correctly, then there is nothing wrong with your car. That is the way the lights work. During the day when you turn on your headlights, your tail-lights do not come on, but the brake lights will always come on when the brakes are applied. At night, when you turn your headlights on, your tail-lights will come on, as well as your brake lights. If this is what is happening, there is nothing wrong with your car. Next time you drive down the road, check out the cars with their headlights on during the day and you will notice that their tail-lights are not on, only brake lights when applied.
Hope this helps. Ps- I went to school for auto mechanics
