Question:
I purchased an extended warranty on my used vehicle last week and I was charged $999.00 for 2 years, unlimited mileage for "Bumper to bumper" coverage. Now, a different auto warranty company called me today and told me they lied to me because the warranty I purchased came with a list of covered components, not a list of exclusions, as bumper-to-bumper coverages usually come with components/parts not covered. He said by Federal law, I have 30 days to get a 100% refund. Is this true? Did my current warranty company lie to me? I was just asking before I called and cancelled my warranty. I have not signed any contract yet (which I think is a good thing).

First, how did this other warranty company get your phone number? It just seems fishy. There are so many scams out there. Do not cancel the warranty that you have already purchased? Call your current warranty company and ask them about your bumper to bumper coverage. Many companies just list the exclusions to the warranty because they are fewer. Other companies may list the covered items. See if the current company will list both included and excluded items. Check with the better business bureau and see if there are any complaints about the company that you have purchased the exteneded warranty from. After you have done all of this, then decide what to do. Don't just accept anyone's word, do research and make an educated decision.New Car Bumper to Bumper Warranty
The "New Car" warranty coverage plan covers all breakdowns except components specifically itemized in the agreement. This is an exclusionary policy, or more commonly referred to as a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty. With the *New Car warranty coverage plan, all labor and parts are covered for any failure or breakdown on your vehicle except for specific components listed as exclusions. However, the list of exclusions is minimal and mainly consists of routine maintenance items. The New Car warranty coverage plan provides you with the most comprehensive coverage available, including wear & tear coverage as an option and free roadside assistance.

" Which Car, Toyota, or Chevy ?
Choose an extended warranty that has an extensive list of covered parts. Watch out for powertrain only warranties or a warranty that only covers internally lubricated parts. You need a warranty that not only covers major parts like the engine and transmission, but all of the supporting parts like air conditioning, electronics, emissions sensors, brakes, and virtually every other component of the vehicle.

Extended warranty companies are a dime-a-dozen. Read the small print! If you purchased from a Respectable dealership ask, WHO can work on the car? Is the coverage a National company? Is there a deductible or minimum fee you have to pay for the repair?
You did not say what year, make, model, or miles your car is. In today's technology and high cost of repairs, you need to know a couple things.
1.) Extended coverage is great if something MAJOR goes wrong.
But they may try to charge for stupid things (ie. fluids-minimum shop fee).
2.) The Finance Manager gets extra money for all who accept the extended coverage.
3.) How has the vehicle been maintained? Did you buy it AS IS?
4.) If the vehicle has high miles and not too many electronic goodies AND you have had your own technician give it the once over- get your money back. "IF YOU CAN"
READ THE LIMITATIONS DESCRIPTION IN YOUR PAPERS.
Thirty days sounds like a LONG time to me. It may already be too late.
5.) Warranty companies will be constantly sending you offers.
6.) You may have a good coverage plan and they simply did not give you the "Not Covered List"
