Car had been sitting for over a week in garage (probably slightly below freezing). When I go to start it, turns over at regular rate, but fails to start engine. Lights turn on fine (probably not battery). No other signs of any issues.
Car is an 88 Toyota Corolla FX (automatic)

It could still be the battery. Sometimes batteries go bad from sitting for a while.Batteries don't always die consistently. The same things that happened the last time you had a battery die might not happen this time.

There are three basic things motors need in order to run. Fuel- Make sure you first of all have fuel in the tank, then make sure it is getting to the motor. You can usually tell if you are getting fuel to the motor if you can smell it. Air- Make sure there are no restrictions of air intake whether it be a clogged filter or something in the way of the air intake. Ignition- There needs to be something that ignites the fuel inside the cyliders. Check to see if you are getting spark and that all of your spark plug wires are securely fastened to the spark plugs. These are very basic things you can check (if you haven't already) that could possibly help. There are obviously many more things that could be the problem but it never hurts to check the simplest things first!I have a 95 mish mirage and need to know if its OBii and how to reset the engen light?
If you have the variable venturi carburetor, the fuel mixture may not be rich enough for a cold start. Try spraying a little "quick start" into the air intake and see if it comes to life.
