It's a 91 chevy blazer 4.3 liter, 4wheel drive. every place I call they quote me like $500.00 is there any other thing that could be wrong that will be cheaper? or is there a cheper way of getting this timing thing fixed?

Answers:

4.3 does not have a belt, it has a timing chain. Have it check out by someone that knows what they are doing.

I would have to agree with the TIMING BELT/CHAIN. The price on the parts should be around $125.00/$175.00 & the rest is all labor.Endless you can do it or have a friend that knows what they are doing you're stuck. But $500 is really not to bad of a price. Then again do you want to sink that into a vehicle that is 15 yrs. old. There is a lot to think about here condition of vehicle, odometer reading, the general care the vehicle has recieved, etc.
