Ford and chevy rim specs?

Question:
my 88 f150 has the 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern. my buddy, (oddly enough) and a 88 1500. is his a 5x5.5 or different. (i got a tire and rim off of him and i dunno if itll work and the truck isnt here to find out. also if it is the same is the backspacing different?

the center holes are different between chevy and ford. ford rims will fit a dodge, but dodge rims won't fit a ford. again the center hole.

What I have run into is that Ford patterns are just a tiny bit smaller, and more grouped than Chevy. I have found that Ranger patterns are the same as Jeeps...
Go to www.tires.com and under wheel search, put in the 88 1500. You'll get the dimensions there...
