My car started making a high pitched whiny sound during accelleration. It also starting switching very hard in first and second gear. So I take it to Ammco. They test drive and hook it up to the machine. They say the transmission is on it's way to blowing up and that it will cost me $2100+ to fix this internal problem. They said labor would be a total of about 3 days.Should I get a second opinion? I actually still have a year left to pay on this car. What should I do?

You could dump the car, but you'd still have to pay for it and for any new vehicle you got. If that's the only repair issue and it's not been costing a lot for repairs and you still like it and are willing to keep it for a few more years, I'd get it fixed. You could ask around for a few more quotes though. You could try at a dedicated transmission shop as they might be a bit cheaper.

Get a second opinion. 3 days labour to change a transmission? You can do the whole thing yourself easily in less than a day, so what are they talking about? Sounds like they are trying to drain your wallet...Repeat question, need more imput on car problem?
If your not upside down on is car. Get rid of it, and get a car with a warranty.ive had several tranys rebult the most i ever paid is 1300 for a heavy duty truck trans... shop around ...1500 is good price.. and 3 days is fast...most places take a week
