UNless your car requires it, it is a total waste of money.The name "premium" is a marketing ploy. The gasoline is not better than "regular", it simply has different properties. high octane gasoline is more resistant to pre-detonation. THis is only a concern if you have a very high performance engine or an engine with a super charger or a turbo charger. Most cars will run fine on regular gasoline and will see no benefits with high test gasoline.
Save yourself some cash and use regular.

Your owners manual should specify what grade your engine recommends, high octane gas is recommended for high compression engines, if it is not recommended for your car the high octane fuel may burn too fast and actually have adverse affects.

If you compare regular to the better gas, there is an absolute difference. It's practically like you eating dirt, when you could be eating a sandwich.Do what the owner's manual says. Nothing else is needed and may actually be worse for your car. That's what the experts say and I agree with them from years of experience. However, I do recommend using Chevron Techron concentrated fuel injection and intake manifold cleaner additive in your gas tank twice a year or so. The same additive is contained in all grades of Chevron and some Texaco gasolines.
The premium gasoline is only useful for vehicles that require it like a Corvette or my late model Mercedes. Your owner's manual will indicate which grade of gasoline is right for your vehicle. Using a higher grade will not make your car perform any better, in fact it will only waste your money.
