Car squeals loudly when driving, quietly when running? WHY? what to do? also, SLOW shift to 2ND? cause? cost?

Question:
My drive way connects to the Highway (60mph speed limit). When I try to excelerate from a stop to 60mph, my car refuses to shift from 1st gear into 2nd - no matter how fast or slow I drive it. Why? (It takes the entire trip - (4minute drive) and stoping at a stop light before it will finally shift into 2nd gear! (such a hassle!!) And last night when I started turning the corner (from the stop light), a LOUD "squeal" came from under the hood. I also noticed that when I was at a stop, with the car running/in drive, that my car is now quietly "squealling" as it runs. Any idea's? What to do? How to fix it? How much cost?
Thank you!!

i cant get my bonet open!?

You probably have two different problems. The squeal from a loose belt that needs replacement or tightening and a transmission problem that is more serious and expensive to repair. However, depending on the condition of your transmission, you may be able to have it serviced and repaired. But if you have over 100,000 miles on the transmission and have never changed the transmission fluid and filter, you may eventually need a new transmission. If you decide to keep the car and repair the transmission, you should install a new remanufactured transmission from your dealer or http://www.jasperengines.com. Don't pay for a "shop rebuild" at your local transmission shop. Only a new remanufactured transmission is worth the money and will cost about $3000 for a typical front wheel drive car. It's possible that electronic computer control of your transmission could be the problem and if so, is much cheaper to fix.

Does anyone know how to adjust the camber in the front end of a 2000 Mazda B2500 two wheel drive pickup?

If it happened and is worse when turning, I would guess that it is your power steering belt. I do not know what make or model you have, but if it is a newer vehicle, you may need a new serpentine belt. The reason that it does it when it is louder when moving is because the squeal is the belt slipping, and when youre going faster/moving at all, your engine is running at a higher RPM.

If you have an older vehicle with seperate belts, I would suggest having the power steering belt checked.

You seem to have a transmission fault with the gears. Make sure your transmossion fluid is okay. and check your power steering belt .if it is slack adjust it, it could be causing the squeal
