Question:
I have a 2000 Escalade
I asked a question before about the heater only working on high, and it was suggested by a few people that the blower motor resistor is probably bad.
My next question - Where is that resistor located?
Around me, only the dealer has that part (for 22 fricken dollars - sounds like a bit much for a resistor), and they aren't willing to help people with anything that would keep money out of they're pockets.
I also asked a question about the rear air only blowing cold air, and I was told that maybe the main control unit has gone bad. Anyone know what this is and where it's located?
(I'm pretty good when it comes to being mechanically inclined, I just don't have as much experience with as many parts and peices as professional mechanics)

Oldsmobile Alero car transmission problem?
The motor resistor is near the blower motor. mine is on the passenger side under the dashboard. Is there any website telling about the parts of car and how it is designed?
It could also be the blower motor switch causing your problem.
I had the same problem over the summer all troubleshoot guides said it was the resistor, but it was actually the switch.
hi. is it better or worse to wrap headers?
The switch was actually melted and I had to break it apart to get it off the connector.
The blower resistor is easier to change, but if it's not bad the parts store may charge you a restocking fee. It might be worth your time to take apart the heater controls and check for a melted switch before ordering parts.
