Question:
Car runs/shifts fine. 84k mi and all main. records, first owner, car is immaculate.
I hit a speed bump, and bent the trans pan, leaked all fluid out while running, engine light came on. I had the pan/gasket replaced, light still on (past 3 mos). Since then no cruise control, either. Certified Mech says code reads PO743, he checked trans operation, sensors, solenoids, etc. which all came out fine, and tells me that it must be the tranny computer. Dodge dealer mech says the trans has no sep. computer, and that I should replace the trans($2600). Because of this code, the car automatically fails the emissions test(because the mil light's on). It has been cleared twice by 2 different mechanics, But comes back on as soon as the car is started. No other codes. The only other prob. I've had since then is bad gas mileage, otherwise car runs fine. If it has a computer, where is it? If not, what else could cause this? My DL will be suspended for this, because the car can't pass the EPA test.

Why does my 74 cadillac ping going uphill with more than one passanger in it?
P0743 Torque converter clutch circuit electrical. There is a bad wire or bad solenoid, both can be repaired without rebuilding the transmission. Go to a known good mechanic, I'm sure he/she will find the problem.Don't just go to the Dodge dealership, go to a garage. My brother blew out the flywheel on his 95 Neon and the Dodge dealership estimated the price nearly $600 more than the estimate from a local repair garage. The work from the shop was quality, and his Neon runs fine. Or just talk to a Neon enthusiast in person. My brother knows EVERYTHING to know about a Neon including all the typical problems with them. There is not many Neon enthusiasts around, but if you know one then you could really benefit from this. Find a local club and let them know what the problem is, and one of them will most likely be willing to do the work for a small fee. Go to Cardomain.com and look at local Neons in your area, most will have a link to a car club page. Hope this helped!
First, your license can't be suspended because your car can't pass inspection. Just because that's the case, doesn't mean you can drive the car around uninspected because if/when you get caught the fines are going to kill your wallet.
How do I stop my doors from rattling when I hit a bump or when my CD player is playing?
As for the DTC Code P0743, it's your Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid and the Transmission Relay Circuits. The dealer is right, your transmission is in need of replacement. You might want to look on E-Bay for rebuilt transmissions and/or your local Autozone/Pepboys. Because you drove it with the fluids leaking the transmission didn't have enough cooling and lubrication to operate normally.
I Need a new Hood for my car and a front grill. How much does that cost probably?
There is no separate circuit for the transmission per se since everything on cars today is controlled by the ECU/BCM. Your best bet is to find a reputable shop to rebuild or buy a rebuilt transmission. For the money you're going to spend, it might be prudent to buy another vehicle.
about how much does it cost to tighten a belt on my car, it is making a squealing noise?
purpose of tccis to lock the converter so the engine dose not race computer diagonistic is not enough some trans shop will repair car .some one before me said electrical he could be right or solenoid the car will have to be driven with a scanner hooked up to see if the the car ecm (computer) is telling the tcc solenoid to work,if that works it is possible it can be a solenoid or electrical i have a feeling there is a coil pack bolted to trans between trans and cooling fanMore Questions & Answers ...
