I recently had an oil change and a new pvc valve put on a 94 Mitsubishi Galant. Now the car stalls before changing gears and cuts off frequently when I slow down or come to a stop. What could be the problem?

pcv positive crankcase ventilation. it vents the crankcase of excessive pressure into intake manifiold or intake system .it is an emission device . if it is the wrong pcv it can cause the engine to blow someor one oil seal. an oil filler acp can cause a car stall too much fresh air into the enging through the vent valvesantro and getz service(both are small cars)?

There could be alot of things wrong, and I hate to be the blind leading the blind when I can't be there to diagnose. But it's most likely not the pcv unless you yourself purchased the wrong one and/or installed it incorrectly. Even the kids at quick-e-lubes should be able to install it correctly.

Patty, This is a device that removes a measured amount of water vapor, piston blow buy, oil vapor from the crankcase. As it is removed it's fed directly back into the intake manifold where it's sucked into the combustion chambers to be reburned. To be short, it helps emisstions standards. Sorry to be technical but I wanted you to see the what's and why's.

It keeps the engine ventilated. You probably have a vacuum leak because they used the wrong valve or didn't get the vacuum line on the new valve right. Look for loose vacuum lines under the hood. They should be making a nasty hissing sound when the engine is running.More Questions & Answers ...
