Once Open, Car Door Won't Latch Shut Because Frozen?

Question:
I live in Michigan. On really cold nights/days I get my car door open but then it won't latch shut. The latches work when it's warmer with no problem. What can I spray into the mechanism that will keep this from happening. I end up having to wait a very long time before I get the door shut. After a time, I just want to kick the door to death because I'm so frustrated that it won't close.

What happens if I accidentally change transmission lever to "N" from "D" while driving my car?

spray lock de-icer everywhere, then on a warm day wd40 and later a spray that contains moly

What could be the possible problem with my car?

You might try WD-40..I did that with a frozen lock that I just about broke a key in...after a shot of my good friend WD, no more problems at all!

Where can I get my little remote control lock fixed for my 2001 Alero or get another one?

Spray it with the same defrosting fluid that you can use on the windows to get it freed up. Then, coat it well with a light oil like WD-40 to keep it from freezing up again.
