Question:
I will be driving about 1250 mi, right now I know it needs an oil change and new brakes but what else are some good things to get checked on it. It is a 2001 Ford Taurus with about 200,000 mi on it.

how do i change a freeze plug on a 96 s-10 blazer?
if its been a long time since it had plugs etc put in i recommend doing that and check the trans fluid but remember with 200,000 miles you DO NOT want to flush the transmission. I worked 2 1/2 yrs in tranny shop and have seen this problem many times. Dont flush it but keep it full. And check your coolant level and its freezing point. Good Luck on Vac.My Xd falcon runs only lpg, after she goes for a while then you stop it she won't restart?
have all the hoses and the belt checked. check all the fluids under the hood. if there is a problem that you know about fix it before you leave so it don't leave you stranded. My mountaineer has a blinking theft light my car wont start how do I fix it?
that's a lot of miles...I would check everything that would pertain to gas mileage...ie air filter, tire pressure, oil obviously, definitely brakes if needed, how long had it been since changing the spark plugs and wires? Get a bottle of fuel system cleaner, top off all the fluids, if you have a grease gun lube the chassis and hinges (not necessary but good to do anyway) maybe rotate the tires if needed, you're gonna be doing the brakes anyway...and of course inspect most anything you can seetransmission fluid level and condition, front end alignment and condition, tire wear and condition, cooling system fluid level &condition. cooling fan condition, wheel bearings , (front ) all engine belts and hoses.
