Question:
I know a radiator is for cooling and the heater core put heat in your car. But are the the same thing just differant size, or is the something differant to them.
Answers:
My fan (fan belt) isn't running. What can I do besides buy another one?
sort of. if you were to drive your vehicle and get it hot then open the hood, the radiator would be warm and the fans would be blowing the heat away from the radiator (you could feel this right behind the radiator), thus cooling it. the heater core does the same thing. when you select heat, the valve opens, and hot coolant goes into the heater core (behind your dash). that heat is pushed into the cabin, thus heating the inside of the car. both run off the same system as far as coolant flow, but when you turn the selector to cool, it shuts the valve to the heater core and the coolant bypasses it back to the radiatorcost of putting a fender on a car?

your pretty much right ,one is bigger and one is located out side to get clean air to cool it off,and the other one you don't want to cool off ,or you wont get any heat .that's the major difference, and one is bigger than the other is also, but one is designed to give off heat and the other is designed to cool the engine off with, good luck hope this help,s.Typically, both are the same, but they work opposite of each other. The radiator will cool the fluid passing through it, making it so your car doesn't overheat. However, the heater core works by drawing the hot fluid into it before it reaches the radiator. As you turn your air on, it pulls the air through the heater core. The same happens when you use your AC. It runs through a similar system. Try running your heater during the winter and then quickly switch it to cold, you're actually shutting off the flow to the heater core.

They are manufactured essentially the same way, except heater cores do not have a cap. If your car is overheating you can get extra cooling by turning up your heater and using it as a little radiator.Check engine soon light no stored codes?
