Question:
I have a 1990 GMC 2500 truck and the truck is geared low.
What is involved in changeing the the gear ratio in the rear end?
I was told that only one gear had to be changed for about 75.00 and some else told me that I would have to change alot more than just the gear for about a 1,000 dollars....
Can someone point me in the right direction?

My Car won't start. What are the steps I should take to find out whats wrong with it.?
Hi. In order to change ratio you have to change the crown and pinion gear. They are a matched set. Depending on how big a change you want to make you may also have to change the carrier, that is the part that the crown gear bolts to. You are looking at crown and pinion set, front and rear pinion bearings, pinion seal and not nescessarly but most likely side bearings also plus gasket and oil. This is not a cheap job by any means. The easiest way is to just get a new differential that has the ratio you want instead of changing all the gears separetly.
how hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 2003 ford focus?
That is no easy task. I believe the ring and pinion gears are changed as a set because of the wear patterns they develope. It's not something you can do yourself unless you know exactly what you are doing. Take it to a professional. It really shouldn't cost too much. I'd guess around $400-500.As mentioned before, another option is to find another rear end with a gear ratio you want.
Air Shocks (Right one for my needs?)?
Still another option is to look on the web for an overdrive unit to attach to your transmission. Look for truck forums to ask questions. They are out there.
