I have a 97' Dodge Neon ..runs fine but I noticed this morning that the heating is not working!!! I don't know If I can check something myself before I take to a mechanic .. I don't even know how much are they going to charge me.. but if somebody has/had the same problem and was able to fix it ..can you give me an advice on what to do??I'm freezzzzing right now....

Is this a coolant problem? The thermostat on your particular vehicle sits DIRECTLY underneath the rad cap. You could check to see if it's stuck open yourself, WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. Is there sufficient coolant in the engine? Do you have any coolant leaks? The temperature control on your particular uses a simple cable setup, NOT an electronic blend door actuator that a lot of vehicles use today. When you turn the temperature control knob between the hot and cold positions, do you "feel" resistance in the movement of the control? Or does it turn freely, as if nothing is connected to it?What is the best way to clean a car's motor?
The reason is because the system is proally broken or rusted.I smell anti-freeze in the cab of my truck. Steam also comes out of the vents. What could it be?
does the blower fan work?.. does it have antifreeze in the radiator?, if the answer is yes to both just take it to a repair shopWhat could be causing a squeaky wheel/tire after an alignment?
Have you checked the coolant level in your radiator? If the coolant is low it cant get to the heater WHEN EVER YOU OPEN THE RADIATIR DO IT WHEN THE MOTOR IS COLD!!!! the cooling sym is under pressure when the engine is hot you can be BURNED!!!!!
