Can i use a 400lb engine hoist to remove a 350 engine?

its the bearings on the crank.i had a gmc truck once did that.everytime i stopped it would go to 0 then it would climb once i got moving and it was the rear crank bearing.

Truck turns over thenmakes a sudden clunck and it stops. It is a Ford F150 lariet extended cab 4 wheel drive .

this is a complex question, what viscosity oil are you using?, 10-30, 10-40, etc.

sometimes when they get hot and are old they will give you a false reading.

What to look for in a used transmission from a junkyard?

You're going to need an overhaul. At 120,000 miles not only are the cam bearings worn but also the rings, rods and mains plus you need a good valve job. Unless you're a good mechanic, expect to pay $1000 or more for an overhaul.
For a temporary fix, use the heaviest grade of engine oil, you can find such as 20W50 or greater if available. A couple cans of STP or similar will also help raise the oil pressure a little, but again it's only a temporary fix.

Do four wheel disc brakes wear better than front disc and rear drum?

I do not believe the Camshaft thing since those bearings get relatively little wear as compared to some of the others in the engine;
particularly the Rod and Main bearings on the Crankshaft.
The symptoms you describe point to excessive oil leak down rates inside the engine, once the oil is warm/hot it is easier for it to seep out of slightly greater tolerances that have developed in your engines bearings due to high millage, a good thing though is that stright Six engines are easier to slip a regroung Crankshaft into than V types.
as for cost it's the labor that will get you, the Crank with bearings should run less than $200
