If it means a lot to you to have the ABS in operation it's as well to get it repaired properly at a trustworthy local garage. If you just want to get it through an MOT then remove the dashboard, take the wire off the bulb, and connect a wire from the oil light to the ABS light as these both work in the same way. It will then go out when it should and will pass.

You may also want to check your fuses and circuit-breakers in the fuse box, as these can blow meaning the system will not operate, activating the light.

You could try testing your brakes on a quite road,get up to about 25mph wack your brakes on and see if one wheel locks( skids, it shouldn't),if it does it's probably a wheel sensor gone.
