Question:
I have a 99 grand prix and it seems to dog out while going up a hill.. i shift it from overdrive down to drive and it straightens out. my rpm surges while it is dogging. I had a mechanic tell me my transmission was bad... anyone have any suggestions on what this might be and is it serious.

bet u can't answer this 1990 Buick leabre problem... JP but i can use ur help!?
no,its not the tranny.mine does that also.what i do is push the gas down about half way and it goes into second gear and picks up speed.try that and see if it does better.also you will lose power on a hill using over drive.it is made for cruising(to save gas)you might check the fuel pressure and gas filter.I have almost lost my feel and now I tear my feet apart I plunge knifes into them what can I do?
does that mean you hit a dog???This sounds pretty serious. The first problem is that it's a Grand Am. It should shift down on it's own. Sell it now before more issues creep up. Buy a Toyota or Honda to replace it.
are you sure about the warranty?
Make sure the car is tuned up and you have the gas filter changed. If these don't help, then consider getting the car to a QUALIFIED Transmission Specialist for their opinion. What is the "catch" to the Hyundai warranty?
take it to other mechanic,a general mechanic not the transmission's one
