Clean out fuel injectors with higher octane fuel?

Question:
I read on the internet that you can clean out carbon deposits in your fuel injectors by using higher octane fuel for 6 months and then going back to regular. Is this true? Can you use the next highest octane or do you have to go up to the top highest octane? Is this at all harmful to your car?

Are American cars cheaper to fix than foreign cars?

Lots of different answers so here's mine regular fuel is fine all the time the problem is carbon as everyone agrees on. High octane fuel burns hotter than regular so in theory it would burn the carbon build up out the tailpipe. You don't need to run it all the time but once in a while is fine. All gas has the same detergents in it but the higher octane burns hotter just like the injector cleaner that is all alcohol. So hotter burning fuel burns carbon deposits. The myth is your cleaning your injectors when in theroy/fact you are burning the carbon from the top end of the engine.

higher octane is not the answer, use a name brand injector cleaner added to your fuel tank. higher octane fuel may cause more damage to your valves and pistons.

how do you balance a crankshaft?

Won't work. Injectors do not get carboned up on the inside. No fire in there.Get a can of injector cleaner from the parts store. If you have carbon build up in the cylinders get a can of combustion chamber cleaner..

Bleeding Brakes?

Blah on all of that. Most name-brand fuels have a detergent additive package already blended into the gasoline. It doesn't matter what octane you use.

Some high-mile 100K miles+ engines can get carbon deposits on the injectors, intake valves and combustion chambers. Spraying throttle-body cleaner into the air intake at idle can clear some deposits. Usually, at the point carbon buildup causes a performance issue, the injectors must be professionally cleaned or replaced.

How much is a Muffler for a car?

higher octane fuel is not going to clean your injectors--get a bottle of fuel injector/carbuerator cleaner and put it in your gas tank before you fill it up--it'll run through that tank of gas and clean your injectors.

When installing a signal light flasher, do you need a separate flasher for both side left and right?

HIGHER OCTANE IS MORE THAN LIKELY NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING BUT INCREASE YOUR POWER VERY SLIGHTLY. GET A FUEL INJECTION CLEANING DONE LIKE A MOTOVAC OR COMPARABLE. ADDITIVES IN THE TANK ONLY HELP A TINY BIT AND IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET CARBON ON THE TIP OF AN INJECTOR IF IT IS MULTI PORT. THEY AR EIN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, THROTTLE BODY ISN'T.

will the smog equiqment from a 84 cressida fit a 82 corolla?

Go to NAPA and get the injector cleaner the shops use. It cost less than $10 and is a high concentrate that is ran through a pressureized tool. Shops charge $70+ to clean with the solvent by running your car directly off the solvent using air pressure and cuting off your fuel pump in the process. Some will add an extra can to the fuel tank for some extra cleaning. If you can't afford the pro job than at least use the pro cleaner. The solvent wont be on the front selfs and may need to be ordered from the local wharehouse same day.

thats a waste of money and it's not true, you need to get some Lucas fuel injector cleaner and add it to the gas tank then fill the tank up. Do this after every oil change and your injectors will be squeeky clean.

my car won't start?

A lot of people don't know this but, never use regular gas, always and always use plus. it is much better for your car, trust me. its cleaner and has more octane (power). Your engine will last longer! Plus, people say that it doesn't help in performance, well, they are full of ****. The first time you fill up with it, you can tell a difference in the acceleration. Trust me and just use plus.

Where can i find a parts manual or catalog for a ford escort tranny?

There is so much BS on the Web...
Higher octane does not mean it's cleaner. It's a function of burning speed/ability not to explode under high pressure and temp.

Are there any mods I should make after installing a cold air intake?

You do not have to only put plus gasoline. Regular works fine. You should use the gas that your engine requires. If you use anything different its not good and If doesnt clean your injectors either because reg. prem. and super all have the same detergents.

I have a '95 Maxima and while im driving, mainly slowing down, it will just turn off. Anyone ever had this?

The ONLY different between the fuels it the OCTANE number. The higher the octane number is the SLOWER the gas ignites. Super actually takes really long to ignite.
Now Lucus is the BEST fuel injector cleaner there is. It costs about 8-10 dollars. And make sure you are on empty, then put the Lucus fuel injector cleaner in and then fill up your tank with your required gasoline.

Ive locked my keys in the car 30th time?

Not true. There is nothing in there to clean carbon. Use a product made to clean injectors. Auto Zone, etc.

Car Trouble?

I have read some of the other answers you have recieved and yes you can get some injector cleaner from a parts store and if you do i would recommend either valvoline or lucas. but if you do not want to go through the hastle if you premium gas once every other month you will be doing almost as good. I recommend to my customers putting a bottle of cleaner in the tank once a year and running premium fuel every other month and have never had any come in with problems. hope this helps.
