How do you reset the theft light on a 1997 Ford Mustang GT?

The car was being driven by the owner and the "theft" light came on and the car died, and will not restart. is there a way to reset this and what would cause it to activate in the first place? The car has 147,000 miles on it.

Have it checked out at the dealer. You could have serious electrical problems and there is no easy way to reset . If I had to guess, I'd say the PATS circuits have a bad part or wire. It takes a qualified technician to properly diagnose problems like these. If you just start trying things you could make it worse.
