1995 Toyota 4Runner cylinder leak........?

Question:
Brought my 4Runner in for a possible timing problem and the Mechanicsaid I have a leak in the #1 cylinder, is it possible to have that repaired or do I need a new engine like he suggested. Is it possible it could be some other leak, they did and pressure test on all the cylinders and number 1 had poor readings.

your cyilinder rings are probably bad or you might need a valve job one of the valves could be not seating right and causing the compression to leak out but its one or the other
