The check engine light came on my '02 Dodge Ram pickup the other day. I took it to Autozone and ran a diagnostic. The guy told me the code was 1491 and it was for emission controls and that I had to go to my delear to find out what it was specifically. Does anyone know what this code stands for?

The book answer is: An open or shorted condition detected in the radiator fan control relay control circuit. This includes PWM solid state relays.Check your relay and fuses for proper operation.
It has nothing to do with your emissions controls. It is a code for the air conditioning relay.

The condenser fan fuse (# 39) in the power distribution center may open leaving the condenser fan inoperative. This may be caused by a condenser fan with excessive current draw or by water collecting in a trough in the fan shroud and freezing in cold weather, which can prevent the fan from turning. This may illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL).

So, check the 25 amp number 39 fuse, replace if necessary, remove any ice from the fan if present.
I get static electricity shocked everytime I get out of my car-- everytime! How can I stop this?!?
(Don't worry about the reprogramming of the module, that is just a way to set it so it doesn't turn the light on quite as quickly.)
