Answers:

Washing and waxing???

As many have noted synthetics are best, however your car is 13 years old and you did not mention mileage, the advantage you may get from using a synthetic now is very limited and very doubtful cost effective. It will not change the wear your moving parts have already incurred thus far. Your best bet is to go with the grade specified for the engine usually noted on the oil cap (it is 5W30 in your cars application) what is best is consistency with your maintenance, there are some so called higher mileage oils on the market but once again not proven to beat out regular preventative maintenance.

You can easily find out the manufacturers' recommended oil by simply calling any Honda dealer. I would not stray far from their recommendations.

With a high millage car I would go with a synthetic oil. It will pay you in the long run many times over.

Which head gasket on my grand voyager is bad?

synthetic is always best, but different weight can cause adverse effects. all the high mileage oil does is swells the seals (a 1/2 ounce of brake fluid will do this also but i don't recommend it) one mistake people do is flush the engine and then they wonder why their valves tap like crazy

DO NOT use a thicker oil in a Honda. It won't flow as easily to places like the head and you'll starve the cam for oil.

Use synthetic at your own risk. I decided to 'try' synthetic in a 350 chevy with 75,000 miles and the rings a junk now.
