Question:
i went out this morning to start the van..but because it is so cold i tried to start the van but i only get a click and it wont start.
Answers:
As long as you have anti-freeze and the coolant is not actually frozen, its the battery. A jump or battery charger will get you started, it sounds like a bad battery but you should have the charging system tested ASAP first, it could be a couple things.
Is warming up your car a myth or really has some purpose?
i own a repair shop, and if you have a small portable electric heater you can set it inside the engine compartment ,and it will help heat it up some, maybe enough to get it started ,i have done this before and it works well just don't put it near any hoses or anything that it might melt or damage, and it shouldn't take too long for it to warm it up some, good luck i hope this help,s.Ford Focus central locking problem!!!!!?
If you have sufficient anit-freeze in your van's radiator, and it is not frozen solid, you might get the engine to turn over with a jump start battery. You could try pushing the van if the weather and road surface is not slippery. If you have a good battery and cold weather below 0 degrees F. you could take your battery inside for a day or two until it gets warmed up enough to run the starter motor. You would also want to check the engine oil to see if it has winter viscosty oil installed, probably 5W - 30 multigrade if this is a frequent occurrance. If this doesn't help, you could try to find a heated garage, or even buy a special electric blanket to put around the radiator on cold evenings just to keep ice from forming.More Questions & Answers ...
