Their are 2 baseboards wired to one thermostat. The heat will not shut off when the desired temp is reached.?

We disconnected one of the baseboards and the thermostat will shut off when desired temp is reached, however the room is to big for only one baseboard. Are the baseboards wired incorrectly?
