Using a tank sealer on gas tank and tank is smoking hot!!!?

used a tank sealer at the end of spreding i left the tank on its side where there is a small leek and its just got so hot its smoking and i cant touch the area .I used metholated spirits to kleen it and soapy water first its a AMC tank seat will it explode if it caches fair the tank is now out side

John Paul is correct. I have used many gas tank sealers over the years and the two part epoxy gets quite hot during the quick cure process. It is normal and not in any way a hazard.

Sounds like you got some kind of chemical reaction from some left over gasoline in the tank.Be sure you go out and buy the proper gas tank cleaner.Just go to your local parts store and ask.I'm sure they can help you out.

Most two part sealers get hot as they cure no problem.

I wouldnt worry about it exploding, but i think that methylated spirits were the best thing to use and would simply wait for it to stop smoking before trying to repair that crack properly
