Sometimes my S10 idles rough, usually for about a minute, and at times up to 5 or 10 minutes. Sometimes the Check Engine light comes on. Once the idle smoothes out, the truck runs fine. This can happen when the weather is hot or cold. I had the oxygen sensor, and fuel filter changed, and the injectors cleaned. This has not helped.

the Idle Air Control Valve may be sticking, or it may have an intake problem. If your check engine light is on, depending on the year model of the vehicle, there will be a code stored in the ECU. The IAC (Idle air control) motor could be sticking due to carbon buildup but it may very well be your spark plug wires intermittently shorting to ground causing a misfire and rough idle.
Start up your vehicle and take a small spray bottle with water in it and spray the spark plug wires while the engine in running. If you notice a drop in the rpm as you do this, that confirms the bad wires.
