When you turn the key on the maintenance light will light up and then go out and light up again. It will stay lit up for about 8 to 10 seconds and then go out. After it goes out the light is reset. and you are finished

if its the maintanence reqd. light . hold down the trip/reset button on the dashboard by the speedometer and turn the ignition key to the on position dont let the button go untill u see the light flash a few times (dont have to start the engine) you can start the car after the light flashes.
