I think you have got your code mixed up. I think you might mean 1404 but if your not sure get your friend to rerun the code or go to autozone they will do it for free. Here is a list of all the codes explained. Once you get the right code check it against this list. Take it to Autozone and they'll tell you what it is.

are you sure its a 4140 and not a 1404 or something like that?Go to a nearby library, and look in their auto repair section. Nissan has a book that tells what all the computer diagnostic code numbers mean. I bet chevy does also.

P-4140 does not apear to be a proper fault code.My friend's 1999 Cavalier leaks antifreeze with engine off.?

That being said, if per-chance you feel the need to reset the light in the hopes that it was a "glitch" of some kind, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to clear the check engine light.
