My belt/s not sure if its one or not, but they squeek pretty loud for the first 5 min I drive my car....?

Question:
Then itll stop while Im driving but when I come to a stop sign or red light and slow down the battery cage dips low and the belts start to squeek again, I tested my alternator and they said it was fine unless a regulator went bad inside any ideas? Thanks!

ok you've phrased your question somewhat awkwardly, but im going to assume you mean to say that you have a vehicle that has several belts as opposed to a single serpentine belt. if you havent already tightened up your belts i would suggest that first, if the problem still persists you may need to replace them, as they've not doubt worn out. when you start up your vehicle, the rubber is cold and when youve run it for the 5 mins as you've said heat has built up in the rubber and allowed the belt to bond with the worn rubber that has shelaced itself to the pulleys. and while your driving and not romping on the gas this bond will stay in contact but when you come to a stop such as a stoplight, the load on the belt slacks off and allows it to slip slightly, this will allow the alternator to slow down and and not get the power it needs to to maintain the required voltage needed to keep the battery peaked at operating conditions. you should have your battery checked under load, have your local parts store test the diodes in your alternator these can go bad and don't show up during the standard test for the alternator, unless checked specifically. these are just other areas to check out as they can be systematic to the problem of worn belts depending on how long this problem has persisted.

Driving cross country what do I need to have checked on my car?

Alternator drive belt is loose.

are brushless car washes better for my car than brush washes? too cold to wash myself now i guess?

alt belt needs tightening or replaced. if you have more that half a turn in belt deflection at the widest point (twist belt sideways) then you need to tighten it to half a turn. thats what ive always gone by and seems to be good
