1990 honda accord ex wont start HELP PLEASE!?

Question:
I have a 1990 accord that suddenly wouldnt start. No symptoms leading up to this at all, as far as I know.
I am not a mechanic but I do know a thing or two about fixing this car. It is NOT the main relay, as I have had, and corrected this problem before a couple years ago. It is not an intermittent problem, just randomly would not start and hasn't started since. I replaced the spark plugs, and even tried jumping it and nothing.
The engine cranks and cranks but will not turn over. I don't think its the alternator either, as that was replaced about three years ago-and like I said before just out of the blue would not start where when the alternator went out before the lights dimmed and whatnot then it died. If anyone has any input here as to what it might be and how difficult it would be to fix it, the advice would be much appreciated!
THANK YOU!

Check the fuel, fire and compression, in that order. Under the hood, on the engine, look for a little valve that looks like an air valve for the tires. Depress the center pin, just like you were letting air out of a tire, this should release gas, if gas doesn't come out then it is your fuel. This means it is either your fuel pump, the relay, or your inertia switch. If gas does come out, check your fire. Have someone else turn it over while you watch--take a spark plug wire off of the spark plug leaving a small amount of space from the two. You are watching for a spark to jump from the plug to the wire. If you have the spark action then you know it's not the plugs. Since you didn't have any warning signs that it was going to go out I am willing to bet it is not your compression. One of these tests should be all of the info you need.

Can someone help me with some troubleshooting on an 87 Gm 350 tbi??

Try checking the starter, if you are a manual transmission, push start it (I turn the car on, put it in second, with foot on clutch, and have the guys gimme a push, and pop the clutch once I feel the car catch) IF it is a manual transmission, this is the easiest way to tell if it is the starter or not. If it is an automatic, take the starter someplace to have it tested to see if it is bad or not.

smoke out of the defroster vents?

You can usually hear the fuel pump operate if you listen carefully. Your car has an in tank fuel pump and if you sit in your car w/no radio or air on you can hear it whir breifly when you turn the key to the start position, it will be quiet, but audible. If you hear it, you probably don't have a fuel problem. Another thing to think about is how long you have had the timing belt on your car. They typically last only about 100k miles before they need to be replaced. The last time I had my 91 honda break down on me, it sounded alot like what you are going through, and it turned out to be my timing belt

Remove distributor cap check rotor make sure it won't turn freely. If it turns your timing belt is broken.Or your distributor shaft broke.Honda is bad for distributor problems.

My 2000 Chevy Van is overheating.?

Take the distributor cap off then turn the engine over if the rotor button spins then your timing belt is not broke. If you are not getting spark then it could be the igniter or the coil I've replaced several of these coils usually give some intermittent issues before going out but igniters can just stop(it's inside the distributor and has about 4 or 5 wires connected to it.) If you replace the igniter pay close attention to the order of the wires because wrong connection will burn out the new igniter instantly.
