step 5 using a 10 mm socket or wrench remove the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing. the other bolt is exactly 180 degree's from bolt being removed in the picture. the area is tighter so i would recommend a wrench for removing that bolt.

step 6 pull the thermostat housing back to expose the thermostat. be careful not to damage the fan switch. i replaced mine with a water temperature sensor.

This is just some extra info. My grandpa told me about a old trick he use to do with his cars. he removed the thermostat and drilled 3 holes in it to allow coolant to still flow a little more.
The hole located at (12 oclock) is one hole that i drilled. be sure to stay away from the bridges on the thermostat. i used a 1/16th drill bit to do this. then i used a dremel to get ride of all the extra metal. then sprayed the thermostat with 110PSI of air to insure that all metal shavings are off the thermostat.
