Question:
The tranny just went out on my truck a 2 wheel drive automatic and I am wondering if anyone can help. Since august the shifting between 1st and 2nd gear was really hard (had a bad kick to it). I drove for a while knowing it needed to be fixed but didn't have the money. Just over a week ago I was at a stop light and when I started going right where it should have shifted to 2nd it felt like I shifted to neutral. No weird noise clanking or anything just gone. Now I am trying to figure out if I need to get a new one or if I can rebuild it. I found a guy that has the 4L60E transmission he is taking out of a Blazer but it is a 4 wheel drive. Can this work or not at all. Any help at all would be great.

interviews. what is the best way to get one and get ahead of the field.?
Black fluid and a burnt smell means that the transmission has overheated and is burned up or "roached" in tranny builder lingo. The only remedy is rebuild or replace. At this point all of the friction material on the clutches have burned off to bare metal. Avoid getting a used one from the junkyard because it's a roll of the dice. You might end up buying someone else's problem or it might run forever. If you plan on keeping the truck,it's better to have it rebuilt by a qualified reputable shop that will offer you a good warranty.A qualified shop will make sure that the tranny gets all it's needed updates and prevent anymore problems that could've been caused by a design flaw. Tranny shops get tech bulletins and in turn you'll get a "better than new" tranny. What is an inexpensive and effective way to remove car odor?
Low and reverse servo most likey bad. The 4wd will probably fit just leave out the transfer case.....and save the plate that is in your transmission.blazer tranny will only work by changing output shaft.(has to be done internally)cheapest route is a used one.make sure it's a 95 only trans when purchasing.also v8 uses 6 insp. cvr. boltsand a v6 only uses 4.v8 also uses 6 3-4 clutches and 6cyl only uses 5.be sure to use air to clean out trans lines and radiator prior to installation to keep from contaminatig new trans.should have a sticker an bellhousing that reads like 5TAD make sure to match codes.the no. is the year and the letters determine the line of vehicle. hope this helps ya..
Are American cars cheaper to fix than foreign cars?
The 4L60E transmission in your vehicle just needs to be rebuilt. There is nothing wrong with that. When you get it rebuilt have the person that is going to rebuild the transmission put in a shift kit and have all the solenoids check and replace if any are bad. The 4L60E transmission is the newer model of the 700R4 and most the parts are interchangeable. If you choose this route you will have a better and longer lasting transmission for half the cost of a stock rebuilt unit and you will enjoy the performance of your new rebuilt transmission.have a 2002 toyota camry idle problems 4 cylinders do I have to replace ICA?
More than likely you have a bad tranny, but it wouldnt hurt trying to change the tranny filter and fluid. An 83 Honda Accord Automatic. Why does it cut out going uphill in low, but is o.k. in normal drive?
NO THE 4WHEEL DRIVE TRANS WONT WORK BECAUSE OF THE TRANSFER CASEA friend told me the steering rack is broken on my car. Is this going to bust my wallet?
you can have it rebuilt (go to a qualified tranny shop) and as far as the Blazer trans no i wont fit. Good Luck& Dont bother with changing the filter and fluid now its way to late and just cause you to spend money you dont need to spend!I Have a 1995 Chysler New Yorker when key is turned in off position car still runs for 10 seconds?
it could work but you will have to change the tail shaftYour trans has a broken 1-2 accumulator spring. It's accessible through the cover at the side of the case. Make sure you replace it with the right part - gm has two types of spring (round cross section and oval).
As far as the trans replacement goes, it should not matter 4x4 or not as long as the trans is of the same model but I still would check the part number at a dealership because they may have some variations.
