Why do Japanese vechicles not have a Digital Speedometer Display on the dashboard?

asians are supposed to be the leader in technology but any digital display dash I have ever seen was in American vechilcles, especially GM and Ford.

They really do nothing to improve the driving experience. Watching the smooth needle rise on an analog speedometer or tach gives you a better sense of speed than a LED display. I've also heard that Cadillac found that most users with their "heads up" display didn't use it.
I had one on a Ford years ago (without auto headlamps). What was most annoying about it that it would automatically turn on at night and you wouldn't realize your headlamps were still off.
