Xenon bulbs will melt the lens.try neon headlamp bulbs, they are expensive but good
How do I adjust the headlights on my 2003 cobra?
if you just want them a little brighter, try putting a relay directly from the battery and using the factory wire as a signal. the wires for the headlights usually have 10 amps running through then and have to run all the way from the battery to the switch inside then back to the front of the car, and when a car gets some age on it, the wires start having more resisitance, and may only allow 8 or 9 amps, dimming the headlights. if you dont want to go drastic, try the relay. if you do, look for silverstar replacement lamps or something along those lines. theyre bright, but they dont last more than about 6 months in my experience, and cost twice as much as regular headlamps. if thats not bright enough, look for HID conversion kits that will cost you an arm and a leg.Legal option: Get a set of 'high performance' bulbs (you know, the slightly blue-y ones the neds put in their Corsas)
Slightly less legal option: Change the 55watt bulbs for 100 watts & blister the paint on the car you're following! Just remember to change them back, come MOT time.
