It's a little filter for the air that goes through a tube into the crankcase and back out through the pcv valve. they just usually plug the air tube into the main air filter box.
it filters out impurities of the air so that your motor doesn't take in particulate and harm the cylinder walls.
if your talking about intake valve then your breather gives air to your intake valve.
