Question:
I have a 2006 Armada that started sputtering soon after I filled up. Since it's under warranty, I had it towed to the dealership. They say it is bad gas & want $450 to fix it. The store owner and 5 other people from Tetco & Chevron say this is impossble and that I am the only one who claims a problem. I have a receipt to prove where I bought the gas.
I cannot get the Chevron folks to go look at the car - they say they will test at the pump (which seems silly since it happened 6 days ago - I have been trying to get anyone there to listen to me the entire week).
I have a 96 Accord. The psi on the drivers side door says 32. The tires are rated 40psi max.?
How do I find out who is telling the truth and get them to pay for the repairs?

The only way to prove it is to supply a sample of the alleged bad gas to an analytical lab for testing. Does your vehicle still contain the alleged bad gas? If so, have your mechanic submit a sample to a laboratory and if the mechanic suspects something specific about the potential problem with the gas, tell that to the lab -- so they can run specific tests -- which may save you lab fees. Otherwise you will have to pay for a battery of tests that could prove more costly than the repair bill for your vehicle. Also, check with your state department of weights and measures -- or whomever oversees this issue. If the oversight agency should receive other complaints, then they may be able to track down something. My opinion -- without a proven bad gas sample, you can't prove or disprove anything. Get and send the sample if at all possible. Note: Getting more gas from the same pump, unless they have had no new deliveries, won't help you prove anything. I guess I would say there are a couple of things you need to consider... Firstly, how soon is soon after? And do you have a locking gas tank, the door or cap? If you don't have a locking gas tank and it was overnight there is the possibility of vandalism. What's the best way to paint a vinyl fence?
I knew people in my younger days that would relieve themselves into people's gas tanks for fun.

Otherwise looks like you will have to shell out for the repairs and sue the gas station in small claims to get the money out of them.

Take it somewhere else for another opinion. You did not tell us how the dealership came to this conclusion or what they said must be done to fix it.You can try to dry it out as Stallion 1 said or you could contact the gas company again and tell them that "IT WAS THEIR GAS" that caused the damage to your vehicle and if they don't make good you are going to see them in small claims court. Don't let them get away with it. If you do they will continue to do this to others and you know as well as I do that if you picked up water in that gas then there is a problem somewhere. They have equipment in the back room that tells them what the water level is in each tank. Hell, the thing tells them the inches of fuel, even the temperature of the fuel. Get-em!!
