Will a 2004 LS2 engine fit in my 1996 Corvette?

Short answer is yes.

Can someone help me name a vehicle part?

Long answer is, it will take some serious modifications to the car. Several car magazines have done this and the people at Mid America Corvette have done it. There are wiring harness available for conversion from the LT1 to the LSX series motors. And I would bet there are entire conversion kits for sale somewhere that include motor mounts, etc. You will have to run an LS series ECU instead of the LT1 ECU and there might be emissions testing issues if you live in a state such as Missouri that interrogates the OBD II for codes instead of tailpipe testing on newer cars.
