We just bought a 1994 Saturn SW2, but the odometer doesn't work. Anyone know how to fix it?

We aren't so much worried about someone having tampered with it. The odometer shows 175K, and I'm sure that's at least what's on the car, mileage-wise.

Who is it called in a Pontiac GrandAm 2000 the thing attached to the doors in the middle part?

The speedometer works, as well as all the gauges. Just the odometer that doesn't...does anyone have any experience with this kind of car's odometer?

The speedo and odo signal comes direct from the PCM. If the Odo works, and the speedo does not, its time for a new meter head....also, does it have cruise? if it does, that will seal your fate.
Hit the junk yards, and attempt to find one with the miles close. If you did not buy the car with an unknown miles statement, you will have to sell it with one.

The speedometer in that car is actually German made by a company called VDO.Most every VDO speedometer has an odometer that is driven using a step motor and a tiny plastic gear.
