New tires with sidewall cracking?

Question:
I purchased a set of 4 green diamond tires not even 10k miles/3 months ago. I drive every day and have never hit a curb with them. The drivers side sidewall has a what looks to be .. deep crack going all the way around the outside of the tire. I called the shop that put them on and he mentioned that another car with the same tires has that same problem and it's nothing to worry about. If my tires are cracking, I'm going to be worried.. I'm afraid they'll blow out when i'm going 70mph on the highway and that wouldn't be good. Is this guy trying to save money so he doesn't have to replace my tires or am I worrying for nothing?

I have a 1992 buick roadmaster that the front end wanders is there any noin problems with the suspenion?

Hopefully you have the receipt. Take the vehicle and receipt with you back to the company where you purchased them and tell the service manager you believe there is a problem. There should be no charge for any replacement or labor if this is a reputable company. If he tells you it is 'normal' get them to put it in writing, sign their name and write down the time you spoke with them. This is your documentation in case something happens later. Now, if you are still uncomfortable drive into another tire dealer and ask them their opinion. They will be glad to give it free of charge. If they find somthing wrong ask them to put it in writing. Then you may contact the dealer you got them from and tell them to change them. If they dont then you can contact the Better Business Bureau. Also I have used the States Attorney office. These contacts are free. You file a report and they contact the business. Good luck and be careful.

I have to keep replacing my windshield. The Car Talk guys say it's because they're being made thinner

at least what i would do is type up an offical letter to the tire shop documenting your concerns of safety and tell them you believe the tire is defective and needs to be replaced. I think they will be concerned enough to replace the tire

Can anyone tell me what gas mileage a toyoto avalon gets?

I would make them replace your tires they should still be under warranty. You have that right if you feel unsafe with them that way and if they refuse too contact their supervisor and tell them how you feel and if they really stand by their product they should replace them for you !! GOOD LUCK!!

I have a 2004 Honda civil and was in a small accident. Will this void a car warranty?

Cracking tires are not good! Ask him to change the tyre. And maybe you should go for other brands. Cracking sidewalls don't happen often! Not safe at all. :)

I have a pug 306 1.9td is there anyway of resettin the alarm as when i unlock & open door it always goes off?

Go to another reputable tire store.have them give you in writing what they believe should be done after they make an inspection of your tires. Some tires get what is called 'dry rot' from being old.Maybe these tires were in their storage too long and are a rare size.Have a copy of this statement made up and keep the original.Mail this statement along with a letter of what you expect to be done and send it through the mail system as a 'certified receipt' where the tire store you got the tires from has to sign for it.Give them a reasonable amount of time to set things right. For now, do not drive at any high speeds.Stay safe and good luck.

Hi can any one tell me if i can put a 5sp man gear box in a 82 hilux?

Tires never quit curing...They are probably some old stock tires.NASCAR and other race teams put there tire cooler trucks and storage to try the slow the cure rate down...

I'm buying a Brake caliper for my car. Whats the difference between a loaded and unloaded caliper?

I would go to another tire store that offers that brand...As long as you have your receipt, they should be able to warranty your tires...Plus, there should be a time stamp somewhere on the tire.

If the crack is superficial it is recommended to keep the tire in service. It would not be a bad idea to have the tire dismounted and inspected internally though for damage from under-inflation/overloading.

A manufacturing defect is unlikely to cause this condition. In fact, it is not even listed as a possible cause.
