what gets checked when a car is serviced?
I need more clarification. If you are just repainting and no other body work needs to be done. Start by stripping off anything that can be stripped. This will help in not having to tape it off. Then start with the finest paper that you can find. 800 grit or finer. Do the entire surface and then clean it with laquer thinner, and then a tack rag.Help with 2005 Dodge Dakota Transmission?
Theres alot to it, not easy. Papering and taping everything first, 180 grit is good to start with, making sure all dirt, oil etc is off, do not touch the truck, fingers with leave oil and paint wont stick good, then using tack rags making sure all is off. Paint should have 3 or more coats, after drying wet sand the paint then dry and then spray 2 to 3 coats of clear, then done.1993 honda accord need help once again?
IF...IF all you are doing is a repaint and no rust repair or dents to fix you're in luck. First of all remove any wax/polsih that may be on the exisitng paint. They sell these prodeucts at auto supply stores. Simply wipe the cleaner on and wipe it off. That removes the old wax. You have to remove the old wax so that when you sand the exisiting paint you don't imbed the wax into the paint. After wiping it all down then take 600 grit wet/dry paper and sand the surface lightly making sure NOT to sand in straight lines. Sand in circular motion or diagonally. Once old paint is scuffed then wipe the dust off. Mask everything you don't want painted using GOOD tape. Not that stuff you buy at the dollar store. Then wipe the truck down again...and again...and again. Might be a good idea to spray a seal coat before you paint. Or you may want to lay down a coat of high build primer (this stuff will fill small surface imperfections. Sand this coat of primer preferably with a straight edge wrapped in 600/800 grit paper. Wipe AGAIN>>>and AGAIN to insure no particles/debris are left. Now you can paint. There is no reason to remove the old paint down to bare metal as many might suggest. Actually the original paint applied at the factory is just about the best base you can have. Keep in mind all my suggestions are based upon the assumption you are doing a simple repaint. If you want more or have rust/dents to repair then that takes a lot longer to answer and to do. Not hard but very time consuming and labor intensive. THAT'S why professional paint jobs cost as much as they do.white smoke comes out of the exhaust on my suv when i start it cold. what could be the problem?
